After years of avoiding exorbitantly priced taxis in Nice and depending solely on Vélo Bleu bicycles to get around town in a hurry, I am now converted to UBER. The extremely affordable and easily accessible driving service is now operating on the French Riviera.
To order a car: simply download the UBER application on your smartphone, create an account, add your payment details and in minutes you’ll be on your way! A driver will send you a text message with a photo and estimated fair and arrival time. Payments are charged to the credit card associated with your UBER account so no cash is ever exchanged.
According to an article in the Nice Matin comparing taxis and UBER, the short ride from the airport to the Méridien Hotel on the Promenade Des Anglais by taxi was 35.00€ and the same ride with UBER POP was only 8.00€.
